A Significant Medical History

The Royal Hospital for Sick Children was the first in the UK to have used radio frequency waves to free a blocked artery in an 8 year old boy’s heart. This combined technique consisted of conventional open heart surgery and catheterisation, the innovative technique was carried only after two conventional attempts to unblock the artery. Without this treatment the young boy may have died but this revolutionary treatment had him back at home enjoying his favourite sport once again.
